International Day of the Girl Child

In 2011 the United Nations declared 11 October International Girls' Day

Each SI club is involved in services to provide health options, education and resources to make choices possible for the girl child.

It was the year 1995, when nearly 30,000 people from around 200 countries arrived in Beijing, China. During this, participants developed the most comprehensive platform for promoting women's rights around the world.

In 2011, the United Nations declared 11 October International Girls' Day and since that date the UN has encouraged more activism.

From the moment a child is born, she can become a teacher, doctor, lawyer, scie such problems.

Joining the global call to action means removing some of the obstacles she encounters.

Soroptimist International has always answered to this call through a network of collaborations and projects:

Each SI club is involved in services to provide health options, education and resources to make choices possible for the girl child.

Even our newborn club EmpowerNet Milano has chosen as foundation service a project which start from the pursuit of gender equality to carry out useful activities in order to bridge the gender gap and challenge the systemic problems that young women face especially at the beginning of their professional careers.

Depending on where she lives, a girl's challenges will vary and she will change the way we deal with -Each member is committed to bringing awareness and solutions to the unique challenges that girls around the world face every day.

Let's not stop waiting for this anniversary for next year. Let's start creating real solutions today and listening to the aspiration of young women.
