La Giornata Internazionale dei Diritti Umani; il Soroptimist Day; la conclusione dei 16 giorni di attivismo contro la violenza di genere.
Il 10 dicembre 1948, l'Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite proclamò la Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti Umani. Questa raccoglieva in sé diritti fondamentali come alla vita, al cibo, all'assistenza sanitaria, all'alloggio, al lavoro, alla libertà di coscienza e di espressione e il diritto di professare il proprio culto religioso. Nonostante manchino solo pochi giorni all'inizio del 2022, questi diritti sono ancora oggi messi in discussione: è chiaro a tutti che persino in alcuni Paesi Occidentali vi è una violazione dei diritti fondamentali dell'uomo!
Per tali ragioni, l'Organizzazione delle Nazioni Unite in questa giornata ci invita a non abbassare la guardia e, a dare il proprio contributo per il rispetto dei diritti di tutti.
In linea con il messaggio delle Nazioni Unite, il Soroptimist Day vede la Presidente eletta del Soroptimist International (SI), quest'anno Maureen Maguire che assumerà la carica di Presidente nel gennaio 2022, annunciare il suo appello "Opening Doors to a Bright Future" a tutti i club del mondo. Questo appello mira a unire i club delle 5 Federazioni in progetti funzionali per offrire benefici tangibili alle donne, alle ragazze e alle comunità più emarginate del mondo.
Il 10 dicembre è anche il giorno che coincide con la conclusione della Campagna "Orange the World", durante la quale le Soroptimiste di tutti i Paesi si sono impegnate in azioni concrete per combattere il fenomeno della violenza di genere e per difendere i diritti umani. Lo scorso 25 novembre, in occasione della Giornata Internazionale per l'Eliminazione della Violenza contro le Donne, il Soroptimist International eClub EmpowerNet Milano ha aderito alla campagna con la sua iniziativa "Stickering 1522". Durante questi 16 giorni di attivismo, le socie hanno distribuito sul territorio nazionale i loro adesivi presso luoghi pubblici di grande affluenza al fine di diffondere la conoscenza del numero di pubblica utilità 1522, quale strumento di denuncia della violenza di genere. Inoltre, attraverso l'inquadratura di un QR code riportato sugli adesivi, i cittadini hanno avuto la possibilità di potersi informare sull'iniziativa oltre a poterne far parte contribuendo all'apposizione degli adesivi e alla comunicazione del messaggio di combattere la violenza di genere e ogni forma di discriminazione.

December 10th is a day that includes 3 important and significant events: the International Day of Human Rights; the Soroptimist Day; the conclusion of the 16 days of activism against gender violence.
On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This brought together fundamental rights such as life, food, health care, housing, work, freedom of conscience and expression, and the right to profess one's religious cult. Although there are only a few days left to the beginning of 2022, these rights are still being questioned today: it is clear to everyone that even in some Western Countries there is a violation of fundamental human rights!
For this reason, the United Nations on this day invites us not to let our guard down, and to give each one their own contribution for the respect of everyone's rights.
In line with the UN communication, Soroptimist Day sees the President-elect of Soroptimist International (SI), this year Maureen Maguire who will take over as President in January 2022, announce her "Opening Doors to a Bright Future" message to all clubs around the world. This message, which will result in the development of concrete projects, aims to unify the clubs of the 5 Federations in services that can offer tangible benefits to women, girls and the most marginalized communities in the world.
December 10 is also the day that coincides with the conclusion of the "Orange the World" Campaign, during which the Soroptimists of all countries committed themselves to actions to fight the phenomenon of gender-based violence and to defend human rights. The last 25th November, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Soroptimist International eClub EmpowerNet Milano joined the campaign with the "Stickering 1522" initiative. During these 16 days of activism, the members distributed their stickers in public places of great turnout in the main Italian cities in order to spread the knowledge of the public utility number 1522, which tool for denouncing gender-based violence. Furthermore, through the framing of a QR code shown on the stickers, the citizens had the opportunity to be able to inform themselves about the initiative as well as being able to be part of it by contributing to the affixing of the stickers and to the communication of the message to combat gender violence and each form of discrimination.
